There is a constant back-and-forth going on in the boxing world right now regarding the future of Tyson Fury.
The Gypsy King has been in and out of retirement over the last twelve months or so, creating a lot of headlines.
This story is being pushed to the back of our minds as Anthony Joshua’s rematch with Oleksandr Usyk in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
AJ struck back against Andy Ruiz Jnr following that defeat and so he will need to do the same again after that unanimous decision loss at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Where the winner of this bout will go next is up in the air. When the likes of AJ and Usyk are at the fore of the heavyweight division, there aren’t many more opponents lying in wait.
One could be the aforementioned Fury, potentially the biggest fight in British boxing being Fury versus Joshua.

He did recently retire but there is talk that he would come out of retirement to face the winner of Joshua and Usyk. Bob Arum, who is a promoter for Fury, sees his man being unable to turn the opportunity down.
“The amount of money involved in the unification fight, I cannot conceive Tyson Fury walking away from that kind of pile of greenbacks, as we call it,” he began, per talkSPORT.
Arum then went on to say, “I think that we will have a grand unification fight, maybe the first quarter of next year or maybe even some time in December.”
Casting our minds back to 2018/2019 and then was talk of a major bout between Fury and Joshua, the two heroes of modern heavyweight boxing in this country.

It kept getting pushed back with various mandatory fights and whatever else getting in the way.
Turning attentions back to this weekend’s fight and Bob Arum has weighed in on this conversation as well.
“They’re heavyweights so anything can happen in a heavyweight fight, but all things being equal I favour Usyk by quite a bit.”
He continued to outline the Ukrainian as his favourite, but at the same time, “Nothing is definitive when two heavyweights get in a ring together.”
