Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson showed why he is one of the best that the league has to offer with an incredible catch during practice.

Having been taken in the 1st round by the Minnesota Vikings in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Justin Jefferson has certainly made a sizeable impact in his first two seasons in the NFL and has set himself up to put up some incredible numbers over the course of his career if he can keep up the pace.

In his rookie year he had a remarkable 1,400 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns, a number that was the record for a rookie before Cincinnati Bengals’ Jamar Chase broke it in 2021, before increasing those numbers even further with 1,616 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.

Now he did naturally get more snaps in 2021 compared to 2020 as the league moved to a 17-game schedule and he became trusted more by Vikings QB Kirk Cousins, but it is still an even impressive jump to make at such a young age.

And he believes that a further jump is possible this summer as he has stated that he wants to go into the history books and become the first wide receiver to break the 2,000-yard mark in a season.

All the help that they can get

The Vikings are a team that can arguably be seen as underachievers in recent years. Despite having a number of talented players on both sides of the ball, from Kirk Cousins, Dalvin Cook and Adam Thielen on offense alongside Harrison Smith and Eric Kendricks on defence, they’ve taken a step back in recent years.

Having been to the playoffs two out of three seasons between 2017-2019, they’ve suffered two straight losing seasons in 2020 and 2021 with 7-9 and 8-9 seasons, and if they’re going to shake off the tag of underachievers, they are going to need to take a big step forward in 2022.

And if they’re going to do that, you’d imagine that Jefferson and his numbers will have a big say in how far they can go, and it seems as if he’s getting himself ready for whatever Cousins throws at him.

Whatever it takes

In footage posted by the Vikings’ social media team, Jefferson can be seen going all out to grab the ball out of the air as he pulls off an incredible one-handed catch at full stretch to stop the ball from sailing over his head:

It’s not quite Odell Beckham Jr as he was in the open and didn’t have a defender on him, but it just shows what he has in his locker and we can’t wait to see if he’ll be able to pull this off during a game.
