Eddie Howe's side always seem to be struck with injuries, and it's no different this campaign. Emil Krafth, Federico Fernandez, Matt Targett, Ryan Fraser and Jamal Lewis are all in the medical tent, but all should be back towards the end of August.

Jonjo Shelvey is also injured but has sustained a more long-term injury - he won't be available until at least December.

As for the Premier League champions, Pep Guardiola's side Aymeric Laporte is still recovering from a long term injury and will also miss this fixture. New signing Kalvin Phillips is also a doubt after he missed last weeks game against Bournemouth with a knock.

Neither side have any suspensions they need to worry about.

Despite Newcastle starting well – they haven’t faced a side of City’s calibre yet. Pep Guardiola‘s side look hungry for domestic glory again this season and we think they’ll batter Newcastle.

Prediction: Newcastle 1 – 4 Manchester City
