Marcus Rashford was, and maybe still is, one of English football's brightest lights.

After bursting onto the scene in 2016 as a mere teenager and scoring two goals on his senior team debut, the hype surrounding the youngster became very, very real.

He would go on to become a first team regular within 12 months, making no less than 32 Premier League appearances and contributing five goals the very next season.

By his third full season, Rashford had blossomed into a key player for the club, and a year later in 2018/2019 notched an impressive 17 times in the league alone.

For England, he became a fan favourite almost instantaneously thanks to his fearless outlook and willingness to commit players.

It's really not an understatement to say that Rashford was quite literally a sensation carving his way through the pro-football scene.

But, now 24, there can be no denying that the Man Utd academy graduate's career has took a turn for the worse in recent times.

Last campaign he managed just four goals and two assists - a meagre return in comparison to the 11 goals and 11 assists he bagged the season prior.

Whilst his performances have cliff dived to the point where the player is near enough unrecognisable from his old-self.

It's an issue that's both confused and bothered United fans for the best part of a year, and to make matters worse, his team could do with an in-form Rashford more than ever right now.

What a special, special talent Rashford is.

Should he resurrect his form in the coming season or two, he could well go on to become one of United and England's era-defining stars.

Whether that will happen or not, remains to be seen. However, here's to hoping that Erik ten Hag can unlock the riddle and we'll see the very best of the Englishman once again.
