Shawn Michaels has been keeping his hand in the wrestling business and the WWE after he retired back in 2010 when he famously lost to The Undertaker at WrestleMania.

He rightly took time out to spend a period with his family after living and breathing the hectic, always on-the-go life of a WWE Superstar.

In 2016 he stepped back into the professional wrestling scene as a trainer for the finishing class with Terry Taylor. A couple of years down the line he became a writer and producer for the NXT brand with good friend Triple H.

When Triple H was sidelined last year, The Heartbreak Kid stepped in to take over NXT’s creative duties, doing a stunning job as you’d expect from someone who is such a legend, few will know more than Shawn Michaels when it comes to professional wrestling.

Triple H has gone on to be the new Head of Creative for the WWE after Vince McMahon retired from the organisation.

NXT UK has been rebranded as NXT Europe from 2023, with Shawn Michaels also getting a major change. His new title is the WWE Vice President of Talent Development Creative.

Given the nature of the news, Shawn Michaels has been trending on social media, with fans sharing their views on the appointment and some using his trending status to reminisce.

One key moment from his career that has been doing the rounds is his perfect Sweet Chin Music against Shelton Benjamin back in 2005, hitting his opponent mid-air to leave him sprawled on the canvas.

Shelton Benjamin tried to attack The Heartbreak Kid from the top rope, with his opponent having other ideas.

Shawn Michaels was coy to what was going on, landing a Sweet Chin Music on his opponent as he flew through the air, sending him to the canvas brutally.

The crowd erupts as he pinned Shelton Benjamin for the victory before the iconic screams from his entrance music rung around the arena with the notorious ‘I think I’m cute, I know I’m sexy, I got the looks that drive the girls wild’ belting out, sending the entire crowd wild, not just the girls.

Most finishing moves of the greats are renowned with the WWE, with the nature of them coming at key moments, they always get people off their seats.

But to connect like Shawn Michaels did here whilst Shelton Benjamin flew through the air took the finisher to a whole new level and has surely got to be his greatest ever Sweet Chin Music.
