Arsenal target Pedro Neto would be a "sound addition" for Mikel Arteta, according to journalist Jacque Talbot.

The Gunners have made an excellent start to the Premier League season, winning their opening three games for the first time since 2004, but the Spaniard is still hoping to bring in further reinforcements before 1 September.

What's the latest news involving Neto?

According to 90min, several Premier League clubs have been 'alerted' that Neto could be available in the final few weeks of the window.

The 22-year-old signed for Wolves from Lazio back in 2019 and has made a big impression on English football, scoring nine goals and laying on 10 assists in the competition, with 33 per cent of his goals coming against the top six.

But both Arsenal and Manchester United are keen on the Portugal international, despite his slow start to the season, which has seen him fail to score in three appearances.

The Gunners have enjoyed a productive transfer window, adding the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus to their squad most notably.

However, Arteta is still looking to sign a winger after missing out on signing Raphinha, while their interest has cooled in PSV star Cody Gakpo, who's now being linked with United.

Having only signed new £50,000 per-week long-term contract back in March, Arsenal might need to break the bank to bring Neto to the Emirates Stadium, but Talbot reckons that he would be an excellent signing.

What did Talbot say about Neto?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "He would be a sound addition. He has done quite well in the Premier League.

"They missed out on Raphinha, I don't know if he's as direct, but it would be a sensible move from Arsenal, utilising the Premier League market again."

Would Neto be a good signing for Arsenal?

Neto might not offer the same quality or attacking output as Raphinha, but with his skill set and potential, he could easily become a top player.

At 22, he's already racked up 19 goal involvements in the top-flight in less than 80 appearances, which is a similar ratio to starting right winger Bukayo Saka, who has 33 in exactly 100 Premier League games.

With Gabriel Martinelli in excellent form and Saka arguably the club's best player, Neto might have his work cut out for a starting place, but with Arsenal making huge strides under Arteta, he would surely relish the opportunity to make the switch to north London and fight for his place.
