Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag does not have a set budget for the remainder of the transfer window as the Glazers are 'trying to save face' and 'suddenly injecting some money' at Old Trafford, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Malcolm Glazer took control of the Red Devils after completing a £790million takeover in 2005, but he and his family have come under intense criticism from the likes of Manchester United legend Gary Neville in recent months.

What's the latest news involving the Glazers?

Following a woeful start to the season, it appears that a hierarchy change could be in the offing at Manchester United.

That is because it is understood that the Glazer family would consider selling a minority stake as the pressure continues to mount.

According to The Times, billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to buy a stake in the Red Devils and is keen to hold talks with the American owners.

However, the report suggests that Ratcliffe - who boasts a personal fortune estimated at £6.33billion - would only be keen to get involved if he could strike a deal which has a view to taking full control at Old Trafford.

The Glazer family are reportedly not yet ready to cede control of Manchester United, which could be valued at close to £5billion.

What has Dean Jones said about the Glazers?

Jones understands that Manchester United chief ten Hag is able to splash the cash ahead of the September 1 deadine.

The transfer insider believes the Glazer family are desperately attempting to show they have the Red Devils' best interests at heart, but clubs are raising their valuations of players being targeted.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "At this stage, I think actual budgeting is pretty much out the window.

"The Glazers are trying to save face by suddenly injecting some money and at the same time the team have been in a desperate state, so any player they go after is having his price hiked up."

Who are Manchester United being linked with?

Manchester United have already spent close to £130million on fresh faces since the transfer window reopened, but they are still being linked with several stars.

Ajax winger Antony is reportedly pushing to join the Red Devils, while ten Hag is also pressing ahead with lodging a bid for PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo.

Manchester United are understood to be making a final attempt to land Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong as well.
