UFC president Dana White has confirmed that he wants to see Leon Edwards vs Kamaru Usman 3 take place in England.

Last Saturday night at UFC 278, it’s not over the top to say that Leon Edwards shocked the world. The man known as ‘Rocky’ was able to dig deep and knock Kamaru Usman out cold to become the new UFC welterweight champion.

The comeback nature of his win is one of the main reasons it’s gone so viral, as well as the fact that Usman had the chance to further his ‘greatest of all-time’ claim by knocking off the Brit.

If he’d have won, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ would have equalled Anderson Silva’s record of 16 consecutive wins in the UFC - but now, he has to start from square one.

The popular opinion seems to be that the two will collide in a trilogy fight somewhere down the line. When that happens has yet to be determined, but the location feels a bit more set in stone.

During his media commitments after UFC 278, Dana White confirmed that he wants to see the third meeting between these two men go down in England.

“I mean f***, Wembley, I don’t know. Yeah [trilogy would be in England].”

White went on to clarify later in the press conference that Wembley is a possibility as opposed to being something he’s actively pursuing, largely due to the weather in the UK.

“I’m scared to go outside, and I’m definitely scared to go outside in England.

“I’m serious but joking about Wembley. Anything is possible in England now. It would be fun but scary at the same time. The weather isn’t the greatest over there in England.”

Where could it happen?

The O2 Arena is always the safe bet but for a title fight, you’d have to think the UFC would want to go even bigger.

Paddy Pimblett recently suggested a show at Anfield but White was quick to knock that idea back, once again because of the weather.

Edwards is from Birmingham but the promotion probably wouldn’t go down that route and so, if Dana is willing to take a risk, Wembley Stadium could be a genuine possibility and would almost certainly provide the company with their biggest ever crowd and gate.
