UFC star Jorge Masvidal has hinted that he will get a title shot against Leon Edwards following UFC 278.

Last Saturday night in Salt Lake City, Leon Edwards shook things up at 170 pounds in a titanic way.

After being 3-1 down on the scorecards in his battle with Kamaru Usman, a mammoth head kick saw Leon Edwards become the new face of the welterweight division. It was a long road that he had to take in order to get to the top but now that he’s made it, ‘Rocky’ plans on holding the gold for quite some time.

The popular opinion is that Kamaru Usman will receive an immediate rematch and subsequent trilogy fight, most likely in England - but there are definitely other contenders to consider from the UFC’s perspective.

Colby Covington and Khamzat Chimaev both feel like they’ve done enough to get a crack whereas Jorge Masvidal has been told that he could get another shot to finally settle the score from the famous ‘three piece and a soda’ incident in 2019.

Given that Masvidal has already suffered back-to-back defeats at the hands of Kamaru Usman, we’d say he was pretty happy that Edwards came away with the victory at the weekend.

“I will be the ww champ of the ufc soon”

While Masvidal is still dealing with some legal issues stemming from his alleged altercation with Colby Covington earlier this year, he’s made it known that he does want to get back into the Octagon as soon as possible.

Fixing the brand

He may have had a great year in 2019 but ever since then, Jorge Masvidal hasn’t exactly been on the best run of form.

He had the aforementioned series with Usman, injuries, some legal problems and most recently a grudge match defeat against Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington.

Many don’t feel as if he deserves to be put in there against Leon but we all know, stranger things have happened in the UFC.

Case in point, Michael Bisping vs Dan Henderson 2.
