Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Devon Allen has taken to the NFL like a duck to water with his incredible play in preseason.

There are very few people in the world right now who are true multi-sport athletes, in the vein of Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders who played both football and baseball during their professional careers, but the Philadelphia Eagles may well have picked up one of the few that are still remaining.

Devon Allen is a hurdler by trade, and made headlines this offseason as he ran the 3rd fastest 110m hurdles time in history when he finished a race in 12.84 seconds, just shy of the 12.80 world record held by Aries Merritt that he set back in 2012.

Allen certainly made more headlines there than he did when he was playing college football. The 27-year-old had played college football with the Oregon Ducks, but didn’t exactly stand out as in his three years there he only put up 921 yards with 8 touchdowns.

From the track to the gridiron

However, there is clearly something that the Eagles saw in him in order to entice him to try and play football, as they signed him to a three-year deal this offseason, certainly giving him plenty of time to make the adjustment back to playing American Football once again as he gets out of the hurdling mindset.

The Eagles already have a number of top receivers on their roster, including A.J Green and DeVonta Smith, but it looks as if Allen is doing everything that he can to make a name for himself and make his way onto the main roster for the 2022 season.

Just as fast on turf

The Eagles continued their preseason work this weekend as they took on the Cleveland Browns, and came out of the game with a 21-20 win, with Allen getting the winning score.

Although it wasn’t so much who got the winning touchdown as much as it was how they got it, as Allen showed every bit of that transcendent speed as he torched the Browns' secondary before diving to make the catch and fall into the endzone:

Whether or not he’ll make it out of camp as a member of the roster, we’ll have to wait and see, but with a play like this you certainly can’t deny that he’s doing all that he can to make a lasting impression.
