Newcastle United 'might return' to the negotiating table and look to lure Leicester City star James Maddison to St James' Park on the final day of the transfer window, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs when speaking to GIVEMESPORT last week.

It is understood that the 25-year-old's current employers are unwilling to do business unless a proposal worth £60million is lodged.

Jacobs has recently claimed that Newcastle have no plans to reenter negotiations over Maddison unless Leicester dramatically lower their valuation.

Tottenham Hotspur have also been 'very seriously considering' a move for the attacking midfielder, but Leicester have upped the ante in their attempts to keep him on their books.

That is because, with Maddison into the final two years of his £110,000-per-week deal, they have opened negotiations over a new contract.
