Roy Keane is one of the guests on the new series of Gary Nevilleâs Soccerbox - and the former Manchester United captain is predictably hilarious on it.Keane is unquestionably one of the best players of the Premier League era. A captain who led by example and raised the standards of those around him, the Irishman inspired United to a host of major trophies during his glittering 12-year spell at Old Trafford.Keane went straight into management after hanging up his boots in 2006, taking his first job at Sunderland. But in recent years, Keane has swapped the dugout for the television studio.Heâs made no secret of the fact that he doesnât find punditry as fulfilling or exciting as coaching, but the Premier League legend is still box office viewing whenever heâs on screen.Hiring Keane as a pundit was a masterstroke by Sky Sports, who will often utilise the 51-year-old to cast his opinions on the biggest matches.MANCHESTER, ENGLAND - AUGUST 22: Steve McClaren, Coach of Manchester United speaks with Former Footballer and Sky Sports pundit, Roy Keane prior to the Premier League match between Manchester United and Liverpool FC at Old Trafford on August 22, 2022 in Manchester, England. Roy Keane on Gary Neville's Soccerbox is gold
Neville, arguably the best pundit on TV, managed to convince Keane to sit down and reminisce over his stellar career for the fourth series of Soccerbox.
One particularly funny moment sees Keane reflecting on winning his first Premier League trophy as Man Utd captain at the end of the 1998-99 season.
Keane, who replaced Eric Cantona as club captain following the Frenchmanâs shock retirement in 1997, was asked by Neville to describe how big a moment it was.
The retired midfielder simply shrugged.
Neville said: âCome on, show a bit of emotion!â
Keane fired back: âThere is emotion! But it doesnât if youâre the first or last to pick the thing up, youâve won it.â
Neville said: âWhat Iâm saying is you were the captain the year before, weâd not won it and youâd obviously got injuredâ¦â
Keane, with his typical dry sense of humour, responded: âThat wasnât my fault, I was brilliant. It was the rest of you the year before.â
On lifting the trophy, he added: âItâs great, what do you want me to say?â
The old footage then showed Keane and Sir Alex Ferguson embracing on the Old Trafford pitch.
Keane insisted throughout Soccerbox that he wasnât as close to Ferguson as everyone thought.
When the footage was shown on screen, Neville said: âSee, you were close. Look at you hugging him.â
Keane then made Neville burst out laughing when he replied: âYeah, itâs like hugging a hedgehog.â

Itâs a real shame that Keane and Fergie still havenât patched up their differences, 17 years after they fell out.
At this point itâs fair to assume they probably never will.
