Liverpool may have to wait until next summer to lure Jude Bellingham to Anfield as Borussia Dortmund are unlikely to sanction the midfielder's exit ahead of the September 1 deadline, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

The Bundesliga giants have already seen one of their star men depart in recent months, with Erling Haaland joining Manchester City for £51million, but Bellingham is continuing to attract attention.

What's the latest news involving Bellingham?

According to The Athletic, Liverpool are very interested in Bellingham and facing competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester United.

The report suggests Dortmund are unwilling to sell the 15-cap England international for less than £103million and are in a strong negotiating position as Bellingham's contract, which does not include a release clause, has three years to run.

If Liverpool were to meet the Bundesliga giants' valuation, it would result in the 19-year-old becoming the most expensive signing in the Reds' history.

However, it appears that the Merseyside outfit are willing to play the waiting game as Bellingham is expected to make the move to Anfield next summer.

Spanish sources have revealed that Real Madrid are also courting the former Birmingham City man following Casemiro's switch to Manchester United.

What has Dharmesh Sheth said about Bellingham?

Sheth has doubts over whether a move for Bellingham is possible ahead of the transfer window slamming shut.

The Sky Sports reporter believes Liverpool could only get a deal over the line if they surpassed Dortmund's expectations.

Sheth told GIVEMESPORT: "It's questionable whether Borussia Dortmund would even contemplate a sale in this transfer window with so little time left.

"People are talking more about next summer. It's always being spoken about, with Borussia Dortmund, that their model is to buy cheap and sell for a profit.

"It's very rare that they will lose two of their biggest players in the same transfer window. If you go back to last summer, it was Jadon Sancho who made the move, this summer it was Erling Haaland, so people are putting two and two together and saying 'that means it's going to be Jude Bellingham next summer'.

"I would be doubtful whether Dortmund would want to do any kind of business in this transfer window over Jude Bellingham unless they received an offer that they couldn't refuse and Liverpool wanted to do the deal now."

Should Liverpool look to sign Bellingham now?

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he will sign a new central midfielder if the right option is on the market and a deal presents itself.

The German is currently unable to call upon Naby Keita, Thiago Alcantara and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain due to injuries, so strengthening in that area of the pitch before the deadline would be wise.

Bellingham has been described as 'fantastic' by Dortmund team-mate Mats Hummels and Liverpool would be better off rushing through a deal instead of waiting until next summer.
