Jon Jones believes he has ended the debate on who is the greatest to ever step foot inside UFCâs illustrious Octagon with a single tweet comparing his career to that of Khabib Nurmagomedovâs.
Fans of the promotion have always been in discussion about who is the best to fight in a cage between the two men for many years now.
Itâs time to take a deep dive into the careers of both Jones and âThe Eagleâ and then weâll let you decide who can truly be called The GOAT.
Jones made his UFC debut against Andre Gusmao on August 9, 2008 at UFC 87, winning him by unanimous decision where his use of takedowns and unorthodox striking caught peopleâs attention.
The plethora of takedowns and unorthodox strikes became a staple of Jonesâ offence throughout his career and earned him many performance-related awards during his career.
In a career which contains a controversial loss by disqualification, his overall MMA professional record stands at an impressive 26-1-1.
He became the youngest UFC champion in history by defeating Mauricio âShogunâ Rua via TKO at 2:37 of Round 3 for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship at UFC 128 on March 11, 2011.

Jones also holds many records in the promotionâs light heavyweight division, including the most title defences, most wins and longest winning streak.
He has defeated the likes of Quinton âRampageâ Jackson and Daniel Cormier in his career, as well as many others of the UFCâs best.
One thing that is for certain is that he has definitely gone down in history as the greatest light heavyweight to ever have fought in the UFC.
Khabib on the other hand made his UFC debut on January 20, 2012 at UFC on FX 1, where âThe Eagleâ defeated Kamal Shalorus via submission in the third round.
He is also undefeated in his entire MMA career, having fought 29 times and 11 of those came by submission which is a tell-tale sign of his mat game and wrestling ability.
Khabib is also the longest reigning UFC Lightweight Champion in history, having held the title for nearly three years from April 2018 to March 2021.
He has defeated some of the companyâs most formidable and famous fighters, such as Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje and Rafael dos Anjos.
He was also inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame on June 30, 2022 for his astonishing career and has been long regarded as the best lightweight in the history of the sport.
So with all that being said, who do you think is the one and only true UFC GOAT?
