Fans have been reacting to new surrounding Miami Dolphins and their tight end Mike Gesicki.

2021 was pretty much the definition of an up and down year for the Miami Dolphins. After winning their first game of the season against the New England Patriots, they then preceded to lose their next seven games, seeming to knock them out of playoff contention befroe the month of October had even finished.

Then something strange happened, they went on to win eight of their last nine games, including seven in a row to get their record back to 9-8 and leave them just one game out of the postseason and probably kicking themselves, if they’d have just got out of that slump earlier they might have made it in.

But when you go through a disappointing season like that, it’s important to look for the standout players on the side who are emerging as a top talent, and that is exactly what Mike Gesicki was able to do for them as he continued his development into a safe option for whoever was throwing him the ball.

Mike makes moves

Having been taken by the Dolphins in the 2nd round of the 2018 Draft, Gesicki was slow to emerge in the team’s offense, only picking up 202 yards in his debut season, but slowly but surely he’s been trusted more and more as he set a personal best of 73 receptions last year, beating out his previous best of 53, whilst putting up 780 yards. That included his performance in the London game against the Jacksonville Jaguars where he led all players in receiving yards with 115 off the back of eight catches.

But despite all of this, it seems as though the Dolphins see more use from him in his trade value than they do on the field, as according to a report from PFF “the Dolphins have “brought up” Gesicki’s name to other teams…That doesn’t mean anything will transpire, but Miami has been willing to engage in conversations.”

The internet reacts

The news of Gesicki’s supposed trade possibility sparked a bit of a debate on the internet, not just from Dolphins fans, with fans of other teams both stunned that they’re getting rid of him and begging their own team to get him, whilst Dolphins gave their own thoughts on the matter:

Mike Gesicki 1
Mike Gesicki 2
Mike Gesicki 3
Mike Gesicki 4
Mike Gesicki 5
Mike Gesicki 6

With teams making cuts in the coming days as they trim their roster down to the necessary numbers ahead of the season, it will be interesting to see who can afford to add him to their roster right now considering that they’re meant to be getting rid of players instead.
