Edge was seriously emotional before his match with Damian Priest on this week's episode of WWE Monday Night Raw.

In what was the main event of the show, Edge wrestled in Toronto for the first time since 2010 during this Monday's episode of Raw, beating Damian Priest.

The WWE Hall of Famer's win over Priest was just the latest instalment in his feud with Judgement Day, the faction he founded back at WrestleMania 38 in April.

With the match taking place in his hometown, where he hasn't wrestled in over a decade, footage has shown that Edge was really quite emotional before his match this week.

As you can see below, WWE also brought Beth Phoenix, Edge's wife, in for the show, and the pair were noticeably holding back tears as the former WWE Champion's music hit before his match.

Another reason why Edge could have been so emotional before his match links to the promo he cut to the Toronto crowd after the show went off the air on Monday night.

Fan footage showed Edge essentially telling the fans in Canada that he plans on retiring in August 2023 in what was another emotional moment.

Edge said that, in a perfect world, he'd like to have his final match in Toronto in 12 months' time, enabling him to retire on his terms, unlike back in 2011.

Edge returned to WWE on a multi-year deal in January 2020, and it seems like he could be approaching the end of not only his contract with the company, but his career as a whole.

As of right now, there's no word on what WWE is planning for Edge's retirement, but some have speculated that Triple H could offer him a big-money deal in an attempt to convince him to stay.

Edge may not be the only ex-WWE Champion retiring soon, as Rey Mysterio has also set out his plans to step away from the ring, which you can read more about by clicking here.
