Rey Mysterio is known as one of the best high-flyers in WWE history, but recent footage has shown that he can do a lot more than that.

Rey is one of wrestling's most recognisable stars. If you asked a non-wrestling fan to name a WWE Superstar, the majority would probably know who Rey Mysterio is.

He's best known for his work on the ropes, being one of the best high-flyers in not only WWE right now, but perhaps wrestling history.

However, footage has recently emerged from Rey's time in ECW before joining WWE, and it seems like he could do a lot more than that.

Footage has emerged, as you can see above, of Rey in a hardcore match during his time with ECW, pulling off a frankly insane spot.

During a two out of three falls match with Juventud Guerrera in 1996, Rey Mysterio (then Rey Misterio Jr) showed off that he can hang with the very best when it comes to hardcore matches.

As you can see above, Rey put Juventud through a table with a sick powerbomb, which was made when more impressive considering he was standing on the table at the time.

Rey Mysterio is one of the best WWE stars ever

Rey, as we've covered, is best known as a cruiserweight high-flyer, but his work before coming to WWE in 2002 proves that he can do a lot more.

Rey was in his early 20s at the time of the match, but now that he's 47, he seems to be approaching the end of this career, just like his former tag team partner Edge.

During a recent interview, the former WWE Champion explained that he doesn't want to be wrestling by the time he's 50, meaning he's likely to be retiring before the end of 2024.

Granted, that is still over two years away, but it looks like WWE is going to have to prepare to lose one of its most experienced stars before too long, with Rey's days in the ring clearly numbered.
