Daniel Ricciardo says he wants to end his time at McLaren on a high after news was revealed that he would be leaving the team at the end of the year.

A summer of speculation has come to a crescendo for Ricciardo, with it announced that he will be leaving McLaren a year early at the end of the current season.

It brings to an end a period of time where he's simply, unfortunately, not been able to gel with the car and many are eager to see where he goes next.

In the meantime, though, he is focused on trying to finish his stint with McLaren on a positive note, with the Belgian Grand Prix kicking off the nine-race run-in this weekend:

“I’m looking forward to heading back to Belgium. The track at Spa is an exciting one and you always get a thrill going through the fast corners, particularly through Eau Rouge into Raidillon. Mixed with the long straights and iconic features, we can really push the cars. There’s also always a good atmosphere so it's a nice track to return to after a few weeks off.

“I’m feeling recharged after the summer break. I’ve spent some time in the US resting and resetting with friends and I feel ready to hop back in the car and give everything for the remaining nine races. After the news [about leaving McLaren], my full focus is now on the rest of the season and to make sure I leave on a high. Let’s get back racing.”
