We all know Edge as one of the greatest superstars in WWE history, but here are 10 things you might not know about “The Rated-R Superstar."

He has been friends with one fellow WWE Superstar since childhood

Adam Copeland and Jay Reso, better known as Edge and Christian (Cage), have had their careers interlinked from day one. The two in fact met at the age of 10 in Orangeville, Ontario, starting a close friendship that has lasted ever since.

The reason behind his ring name

He initially wanted to just be known by his real name but everyone at the time had a ring name. WWE had suggested Rage or Riot, neither which connected with Copeland. He said the name “Edge” simply came from a radio station “Edge 103.7” that he was listening to on the road, and it stuck.

His first title reign in WWE lasted one day

Edge’s first title success came in the shape of the Intercontinental Championship on a house show in his hometown of Toronto on July 24, 1999. However, it did not last long as he dropped it back to Jeff Jarrett the very next night at the Fully Loaded pay per view.

He feuded with Booker T for a very strange reason

In the run-in to WrestleMania, both Edge and Booker had nothing of note planned. It was decided that the two would face each other in a feud regarding a Japanese shampoo commercial. Edge emerged victorious but never appeared in the fictional shoot. Strange.

He was Hulk Hogan’s partner for his only Tag Team Championship

On the July 4th, 2002 episode of SmackDown, Edge teamed with one of his childhood heroes, Hulk Hogan to win the World Tag Team Championships. This was the Hulkster’s only Tag Title success. A feather in the cap of the Rated-R superstar.

He was the first man to win Money in the Bank

Edge won the King of the Ring in 2001, followed by Money in the Bank in 2005 and finally the Royal Rumble in 2010. This made him the first man to win all three. He has since been joined by Sheamus and Brock Lesnar in this illustrious category.

He had his own WrestleMania “streak” to speak of for a time

In his first five WrestleManias, Edge had a perfect win record. This included a hardcore match with Mick Foley, the inaugural Money in the Bank ladder match and the iconic TLC Tag Team match at WrestleMania 17.

He has won the most World Heavyweight Championships in WWE history

With seven reigns to his name, the Rated-R Superstar is the most successful World Heavyweight Champion in WWE history. The Big Gold Belt was regularly in his possession prior to it being unified with the WWE title in 2013.

He appeared on an iconic British Quiz Show in 2002

Edge was a contestant on the second “Weakest Link: WWE edition” in 2002 alongside the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kane, and the Dudley Boyz. Unfortunately, he did not last long and was sent packing by his fellow superstars and legendary host Anne Robinson.

His television career prospered after his initial retirement

Prior to coming out of retirement at the 2020 Royal Rumble, Adam Copeland had a recurring role in the fifth and sixth seasons of “Vikings” as Kjetill Flatnose. His long hair and beard were perfectly suited to the 25 episodes he starred in.
