Here we’ll showcase our predictions for the top 5 with the best defensive stats in FIFA 23. Check them out below.

As much as we all like attacking in FIFA, one of the most important aspects of any side is the ability to defend. Fantastic defensive players allow your attacking players to do their intended purpose and provide immense stability at the back in order to grind out victories.

We've had some phenomenal names who have possessed fantastic defending statistics throughout the years of FIFA, with John Terry, Nemanja Vidic, Carles Puyol and Paulo Maldini to name just a few of the monsters we've had that certainly knew how to stop an opponent in previous FIFA titles.

But now we look forward to the new title and what this may bring, so with this, here are our predictions for who we think the top 5 players with the best defending stats will be in FIFA 23.

At number five is Manchester United's new marquee signing – Casemiro.

The rock-solid midfielder is the only player to differentiate from a centre-back in our top five, which may give you some clues on who is to come.

4 - Milan Skriniar

Position: CB
Club: Inter Milan
League: Serie A
Defending Prediction: 88

Next up is the Slovakian defender - Milan Skriniar.

He was integral to Inter Milan's side last year and was certainly one of the best defenders in Serie A. We predict he'll be given 88 in terms of defensive stats.

3 - Marquinhos

Position: CB
Club: Paris Saint Germain
League: Ligue 1
Defending Prediction: 89

Marquinhos sits at third. The Brazilian has proven over the last couple of seasons that he is one of the best in the business at what he does and has filled the huge void left in PSG's defence after Thiago Silva's departure perfectly.

2 - Ruben Dias

League: Premier League
Defending Prediction: 89

Technically level with Marquinhos, we have Manchester City's, Ruben Dias.

The classy centre-back won the Premier League's player of the season during his first year, and although injuries struck last campaign - he is no doubt up there with the very best.

1 - Virgil van Dijk

Position: CB
Club: Liverpool
League: Premier League
Defending Prediction: 90

It had to be at number one, Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk. The Dutch giant is nothing short of a monster at the back and it's safe to say he's probably the world's best defender. He takes the top spot comfortably, just like in FIFA 22.
