Crystal Palace are going to ‘go for two or three signings’ ahead of the transfer window closing on September 1, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

Manager Patrick Vieira has overseen mass changes in personnel since arriving in south London back in July 2021 and could continue his overhaul of the first-team squad over the coming days.

What is the latest news involving Palace?

When Vieira took over the reins from former boss Roy Hodgson, he inherited the oldest squad in the Premier League and quickly set about changing the makeup of his players.

Experienced campaigners such as Gary Cahill, Andros Townsend and Patrick van Aanholt made way for the likes of Marc Guehi, Michael Olise and Joachim Andersen.

And Vieira has stuck to similar principles this time around, targeting players who still have their best years ahead of them and can be sold on for significant profit should more affluent clubs come calling.

Cheick Doucoure, Chris Richards, Sam Johnstone and Malcolm Ebiowei have all been picked up for around £30 million, but further additions could still arrive.

The Eagles are yet to really replace the profile of loanee Conor Gallagher in midfield and his goals and assists were pivotal to their success last season.

What has Taylor said about Crystal Palace?

Two players who have been linked with moves to Palace in recent weeks are Leicester City’s Boubakary Soumare and Lyon’s Houssem Aouar, who are both reportedly available for transfer.

And Taylor believes that former France Under-21 international Soumare will be assessed ‘alongside’ his compatriot at Selhurst Park.

He told GiveMeSport: “I think that's one Palace will look at alongside Houssem Aouar. I don't know how realistic it is, but from what I understand, Palace are going to go for two or three signings.”

Could Crystal Palace sign Soumare and Aouar?

A recent report from the Daily Mail has revealed that Palace are ‘keen on a move’ for Soumare, who has struggled to make an impact at Leicester since arriving from Lille 12 months ago.

It’s claimed that the Foxes are eager to recoup the majority of the £17m they splashed out on him, and with four years remaining on his £83,000-per-week contract, that could be a reasonable price.

Meanwhile, French outlet L’Equipe have reported that Palace could attempt to hijack Nottingham Forest’s move for Aouar after they failed to match his price tag.

Lyon are said to be demanding €15m (£12.6m) for the one-cap France international, who only has one year remaining on his £62,000-per-week deal, while Forest’s last bid only reached €10m (£8.4m).
