Chelsea star Christian Pulisic is now 'likely to stay' at Stamford Bridge after holding 'clear the air talks', according to journalist Simon Phillips.

The Blues have spent more than £180million on bolstering head coach Thomas Tuchel's squad throughout the transfer window, but there could be further incomings and outgoings ahead of the 11pm deadline on September 1.

What's the latest news involving Pulisic?

It is understood that Pulisic is desperate to leave Chelsea as he is eager to secure regular game-time ahead of the 2022 World Cup taking place in Qatar this winter.

According to The Athletic, Premier League rivals Manchester United are considering taking the creative midfielder on loan for the remainder of the season.

The report suggests Chelsea are open to sanctioning a temporary move away from Stamford Bridge, with Newcastle United, Juventus and Atletico Madrid also making approaches for the 51-cap United States international.

However, it is reportedly unlikely that Pulisic will leave west London so close to the closure of the transfer window.

The 23-year-old's Chelsea contract - which is worth £150,000-per-week - is due to expire in the summer of 2024, meaning they are not necessarily under pressure to sanction his departure.

What has Simon Phillips said about Pulisic?

Phillips understands that Pulisic is set to remain at Stamford Bridge beyond the fast-approaching transfer deadline.

The journalist is aware that the American has held talks over his future and his father was involved in the discussions after liking tweets criticising Tuchel and the amount of playing time coming Pulisic's way.

Phillips told GIVEMESPORT: "I'm told Christian Pulisic is now likely to stay. That's after conversations and clear the air talks.

"I think they involved his father, who has been involved in some interesting social media activity after last weekend."

Should Chelsea keep Pulisic at the club?

Chelsea forked out £58million to sign Pulisic from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund three-and-a-half years ago.

He has gone on to make close to 120 appearances for the west Londoners and registered 44 goal contributions in the process, so it is clear that he is capable of being a huge threat in the final third of the pitch.

Pulisic has also won the Champions League, Club World Cup and Super Cup since his arrival, so he has played a key role in Chelsea's recent success.

Although he has found game-time hard to come by during the early stages of the new season, Tuchel would be wise to keep Pulisic at Stamford Bridge.
