Everton: Lampard now ‘expects big names’ to move to Goodison Park

Everton manager Frank Lampard applauds the fans

Everton are now ‘chasing big names’ in the transfer window ahead of next week’s deadline, with Frank Lampard expecting new arrivals at Goodison Park, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

The Toffees’ boss has overseen a busy few months of business on Merseyside but still has time to strengthen further ahead of the September 1 cut-off.

What is the latest transfer news from Everton?

There is a chance we will see prominent names arrive and depart from Goodison Park before the summer window comes to a close.

Chelsea are continuing to chase the signature of Anthony Gordon ahead of the deadline, with the Blues willing to splash up to £60 million on the 21-year-old.

Richarlison has already left the club for Tottenham this summer and they will be determined not to lose another attacking star.

However, Lampard has denied that such a bid has been made in his latest press conference, saying that Gordon will be in Everton’s matchday squad for their clash with Brentford.

Meanwhile, a new striker appears to be imminent on the blue half of Merseyside with Brighton’s Neal Maupay undergoing a medical and could be registered in time to face the Bees on Saturday.

Blackburn Rovers ace Ben Brereton Diaz also appears to be closing in on a move, for a fee of around £20 million, according to 90Min.

The report states that West Ham, Leeds, Wolves and Southampton were all interested but it is the Toffees who have stolen a march.

What has Phillips said on Everton’s business?

Phillips understands that the club are continuing to chase big names in the transfer market with just days left until the window closes.

The journalist adds that, after cashing in on Richarlison, and potentially Gordon, Lampard will expect those in control to bring him some exciting players.

Phillips told GIVEMESPORT: “There’s definitely a lot of room for Everton and Lampard to have a really good end to the window because they’ve got that money already and, if the Gordon money comes in as well, Lampard is going to expect some big names to arrive, and they are chasing some big names.”

Who have Everton signed in the window?

It has been a busy few months for the club with a number of signings and departures.

Five new faces have joined Lampard’s squad in the form of Amadou Onana, James Tarkowski, Dwight McNeil, Conor Coady and Ruben Vinagre, with just over £30 million spent.

It has been a slow start to the Premier League season, however, with just one point to their name after three matches, so new recruits will remain a priority and the arrival of Maupay would be a step in the right direction.
