New footage of Ronaldo blanking Carragher emerges

One fan managed to record the incident from the stands - and it looks even more brutal on poor Carra from this new angle.

Check out the video here:

Carragher holds out his microphone as Ronaldo walks over but is completely ignored by the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Let’s check out some of the reaction:

Why did Ronaldo ignore Carragher?

Perhaps he didn’t want to speak live on Sky Sports - although he could have at least acknowledged Carragher’s existence - but the legendary forward’s ex-teammate Rio Ferdinand has his own theory.

“Knowing Cristiano Ronaldo, Jamie Carragher’s been very vocal about Cristiano Ronaldo being the problem and stuff like that,” Ferdinand said on FIVE, per the Daily Mail, earlier this week.

“Trust me, Cristiano would’ve seen those comments and would’ve been thinking walking over there: ‘I’ll just let this guy know with a little…,’ he needs to kind of calm him down, humiliate him and show him up, whatever way you want to dress it up live on TV.

“Cristiano is very calculated, he’s very aware of what’s going on, he’s not somebody who sits at home and switches off.”

How did Carragher react to Ronaldo blanking him?

Reacting to the viral clip, Carragher tweeted: “I get a custard pie for getting it right on Ronaldo from day one!

“The custard pie for him from [Erik ten Hag] shows the Manager thinks the same!!

“Maybe the ex Man United Legends (sycophants!) will now agree with me.”

Ouch.

Does Carragher have a point about Ronaldo?

It’s hard to see Ten Hag starting Ronaldo during Saturday lunchtime’s Premier League clash against Southampton following the excellent team performance against Liverpool.

It’s been reported that Ronaldo still wants to leave Old Trafford before the summer transfer window closes next week, although his options appear to be so limited that he may be forced to stay with the Red Devils until 2023.

If that happens, he’ll probably need to get used to the unfamiliar feeling of spending time on the subs’ bench.
