Everton will pull off 'big statement signings' if they succeed in luring Chelsea duo Armando Broja and Conor Gallagher to Goodison Park, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

Frank Lampard, who was appointed as the Toffees' manager in January, could freshen up his squad ahead of the 11pm transfer deadline on September 1.

What's the latest news involving Broja and Gallagher?

According to talkSPORT, Everton have asked Chelsea to include either Broja or Gallagher as part of the deal to sign Anthony Gordon.

The report suggests the west Londoners have offered £50million - plus £10million in add-ons - for the seven-cap England under-21 international, but the Toffees are keen to see Broja or Gallagher head in the opposite direction on loan.

It is understood that Everton have an ongoing interest in Broja, who spent last season on Southampton's books as he gained valuable Premier League experience.

Lampard is also a huge admirer of Gallagher, 22, and registered an interest in the central midfielder last month.

Gallagher only returned to Chelsea at the end of the 2021/22 campaign after enjoying a spell on loan with London rivals Crystal Palace.

What has Simon Phillips said about Broja and Gallagher?

Phillips understands that Everton have enquired about securing the services of Broja and Gallagher.

The journalist feels swooping for either of the Chelsea stars would take Lampard's squad to the next level.

Phillips told GIVEMESPORT: "It's true that they have asked Chelsea for Broja and/or Conor Gallagher as part of the Gordon signing.

"They want both of those players and, for me, they would be big statement signings if they can get either of those."

Are Everton facing competition for the duo?

Broja has scored 20 goals during the early stages of his career and, having enjoyed regular Premier League action at Southampton, is coveted by numerous clubs.

It is understood that Everton have been joined by West Ham United and Newcastle United in the race to sign the 20-year-old frontman.

Gallagher is reportedly Newcastle's number one target ahead of the summer window slamming shut next week, while West Ham are hopeful of negotiating a loan switch to the London Stadium.

The central midfielder has also been linked with a return to Crystal Palace, where he took his number of senior goals up to 16, but Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has admitted that he is a 'huge fan' and wants to keep him at Stamford Bridge.
