Max Verstappen was fastest in FP2 at Spa-Francorchamps as the Dutchman looks to show his pace before starting towards the back of the field after being hit with grid penalties.

Max is one of several drivers that have been struck with penalties relating to engine component changes, with Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, Mick Schumacher, Esteban Ocon and Valtteri Bottas all set to start towards the rear of the field for similar reasons.

Indeed, it's going to be interesting see Max and Charles surge through the field, especially given the pace they are showing once again after the summer break in Spa.

Rain towards the end of the session rather curtailed the running but before then it was Max who went quickest, with him nearly a second quicker than Leclerc whilst Lando Norris was third-fastest.

Lance Stroll was fourth as he continued to show good pace in the Aston Martin, whilst Carlos Sainz was fifth ahead of Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso and George Russell.

Daniel Ricciardo and Sergio Perez completed the top ten, meanwhile, as we now head towards Saturday and FP3 and qualifying.
