Liverpool head into Saturday's home match against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon without a Premier League victory to their credit in three attempts this season, but manager Jurgen Klopp still controversially feels his side were unlucky not to have beaten Manchester United at Old Trafford earlier this week.

The Red Devils recovered from disappointing back-to-back defeats against Brighton and Brentford at the start of their campaign to enter a dominant performance against Klopp's Merseysiders, who looked flat throughout.

Goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford gave United a deserved 2-1 victory on the night, with Mo Salah's late reply for Liverpool proving nothing more than a consolation.

There was some debate over whether Rashford's decisive second-half goal was correctly ruled onside by VAR, but overall United's energetic showing was fully deserving of all three points.

Some four days after his side's defeat, though, Klopp refuses to publicly accept that United were the better side at the 'Theatre of Dreams'.

At his pre-match press conference for Liverpool's clash with Bournemouth, Klopp continued to boldly insist that his team deserved to win the match against United.

He told reporters: "We respect [the United] result. We had chances and they blocked them with all they had. We didn't have that and that's what we have to involve in our game. It's done and dusted.

“The situation isn't what we wanted but it's a challenge, I like it. We have to fight back.

"I know how it sounds but we should have won this game if we did little things better, so now we have to find out.

"The team we lined up with was more than good enough to play a top game. I want to fight through this, players come back and we'll get better results," vowed Klopp.

The charismatic German originally suggested that Liverpool were the better side at Old Trafford directly after the game, having had little time to reflect upon the match itself.

Klopp, though, has stood firm behind his comments. The Anfield boss has an extensive list of absentees for the visit of the Cherries and has little option but to put his trust in the same players who turned out against United earlier this week to help his side deliver a first league win of the season.

Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar: Where did these 40 players make their pro debut?

Liverpool's James Milner and Virgil van Dijk were captured sniping at one another directly after United's opener on Monday night.

In response to queries about potential issues between the pair, Klopp was swift to shut down the speculation.

"I was a pretty emotional player on the pitch and most of the time it was with my best friends. There's nothing to clarify. There was no problem at all (between them)."

With Liverpool's Premier League title chances already in the balance, three points against Bournemouth are vital. Klopp can expect many more tough questions should they not pick up a victory this weekend.
