Manchester United are "clearly interested" in re-signing Memphis Depay, according to journalist Jacque Talbot.

Erik ten Hag is in the market for attacking players and given they're both Dutch, Talbot reckons that Depay returning to Old Trafford would "make a lot of sense".

What's the latest news involving Depay?

Despite his first spell at United turning out to be incredibly disappointing, the Barcelona forward is being linked with a surprise return to the Theatre of Dreams.

Depay signed for United from PSV for £31m back in 2015, but he registered just seven goals and six assists in more than 50 games, which ultimately led to him leaving for Lyon 18 months later.

But since leaving United, the 28-year-old has gone on to establish himself as a top performer for both Lyon and also on the international stage for Netherlands.

As a result, he has gone on to score 146 goals at club level, but he's back on the market once again, with Barcelona trying to offload him before Thursday's deadline.

And the Manchester Evening News believe that United are 'considering' a move for the Depay, who has less than 12 months left on his Nou Camp terms.

Depay has worked under Ten Hag before, when the United boss was assistant manager at PSV, and Talbot reckons the deal would make sense.

What did Talbot say about Depay?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "I'm sure there's some interest in Depay, who Barcelona are clearly trying to get rid of.

"It would make a lot of sense, he's Dutch as well with Ten Hag, but it's a case of whether Ten Hag wants him in or not."

How did Depay perform last season?

Depay's stock has risen in recent years, mainly due to his exceptional goalscoring numbers with Lyon, which saw him registered an incredible 132 goal contributions in his five seasons in France.

As a result, he was snapped up by Barcelona last summer, but he struggled to replicate that type of form, despite scoring eight times in his first 15 La Liga appearances.

Injuries and the January arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang saw Depay slip down the pecking order and score just five goals from December onwards.

Ultimately, he ended his first year in Spain with 13 goals in all competitions, his worst return for five seasons.
