Jurgen Klopp has admitted that Liverpool will look to sign a new midfielder this summer.
The German was previously adamant that the Reds did not need to strengthen that area of the pitch.
However, injuries to key midfielders and their struggles to start the season have forced him to have a re-think.
Speaking ahead at his press conference on Friday, Klopp said, per the Mirror: âThat [Our need] changed of course.
âI know we have had this discussion since it all started and I am the one who said we donât need a midfielder and you were all right and I was wrong.
âThatâs the situation. There is really nothing more to say about it. We are looking for it.

âI donât know (if it will happen before Thursday), we will see. It needs to be the right player, but we are working, and we will see if something will happen or not. As you can imagine, we are actually working constantly on these kind of things, and there are reasons why it is sometimes not happening â sometimes too expensive, sometimes not the right player â but then the situation changes.
âOne thing stays important, and itâs that it needs to be the right player. If we do something itâll be that we are 100 per cent convinced about it, and if we are not convinced, then we donât do it.â
While The Evening Standard do not the names on Klopp's shortlist, they have named four players that the club have been heavily linked with over the summer.
Jude Bellingham
Bellingham is one of the most coveted youngsters in the world at the moment. Convincing Borussia Dortmund to sell him this summer may be tricky, though.
Nicolo Barella
The 25-year-old has developed into one of Europe's best midfielders at Inter Milan. He played a major role in Italy's Euro 2020 victory last summer.

Moises Caicedo
Caicedo has been turning heads with some eye-catching performances at Brighton. Just 20, the Ecuadorian will only get better.
Frenkie De Jong
Believed to be a target of both Man United and Chelsea, Liverpool have been linked with a move in the past few days.
The transfer window shuts on September 1, meaning Klopp and Liverpool have five days to sign a midfielder.
It could be an exciting end to the transfer window for Liverpool fans.
