Max Verstappen will not face punishment for a practice start violation on Friday, with him instead getting a warning.

The Dutchman is set to start at the wrong end of the field at the Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday, after grid penalties were triggered by engine component changes, and it's going to be fascinating watching him plot his way through the field as he looks to get a positive result.

Certainly, he showed he's got the pace in the car to still get a good amount of points after going very quickly in FP2 - nearly a second quicker than Charles Leclerc in P2 - and that suggests that he is going to be pretty racy on Sunday, which should make for spectacular viewing.

The Dutchman's practice running on Friday was not without incident, though, with him having to face the stewards after FP2 following a practice start infringement which saw him jump the line of cars that had formed to perform their own practice starts.

The stewards have issued their verdict, then, saying that Max did indeed violate the rules around practice starts, but that he will be given a warning and face no further action:

"At 17:59 during second practice, the driver of car 1 passed a car that was in line to do practice starts and cut into the line to do a practice start, thereby not leaving in the order he arrived," said the stewards' report.

"This is a breach of the Race Director's Event Notes and the stewards issue a warning."

Max escapes any further penalties, then, and will be aiming to now focus on showing his pace in final practice and qualifying, before lining up for Sunday's race further down than he would obviously like.
