When the Lionesses lifted the trophy at Euro 2022 this summer, they ended the country's 56-year wait for silverware and inspired the entire nation.

Thanks to their history-making heroics, Sarina Wiegman and her team have changed the landscape of women's football in England forever.

Presenter and YouTube personality Chunkz, like so many others, was left starstruck by England's European fairytale story.

GiveMeSport Women recently spoke with Chunkz about the impact of Euro 2022 and the magnitude of the Lionesses' victory.

"Big up the girls, man! They're just doing it — I love seeing it," he grinned. "Obviously, they broke records in terms of attendance, another incredible achievement, and I'm sure that the people involved in women's football are very proud of what they've achieved.

"I've got friends in the sports world like Fara Williams for example. She was there on the sidelines [at the Euro 2022 Final] and I could tell it was an emotional night for her as well."

Indeed, Williams was very much part of the full-time celebrations at Wembley on July 31st.

England's most capped player was tackled to the floor by former teammates Lucy Bronze and Jill Scott in a brilliant and heartwarming video.

Other ex-England internationals including Alex Scott and Ian Wright also made headlines with their iconic celebrations throughout the tournament.

Chunkz, who is a lifelong Arsenal fan, was delighted to see Leah Williamson pull on the captain's armband for her country and lead England Women to their first ever major title.

Williamson stepped in for the absent Steph Houghton and played a crucial role in helping her side win their first ever major trophy.

"It's incredible. I've filmed with Leah Williamson and she's had aspirations to be the captain and obviously I'm proud of her, I'm proud of the team," said Chunkz.

They brought it back home, the lads couldn't, so I'm very happy for them.

Chunkz, like so many others who were captivated by England's performance at Euro 2022, has made it his mission to attend more Women's Super League matches.

As a Gooner, he has been backing Jonas Eidevall's side and went to watch Arsenal Women in action with Wright during their run in the Champions League last season.

"It wasn't the greatest of results, but it's not about that," Chunkz laughed. "It's about attending and backing the girls as much as you back the guys.

"England are on their way up, they've won the Euros — it just shows how great they are at football. So let's get behind them and be more invested and be more interested."

The 2022/23 WSL season gets underway on Saturday, September 10th.
