Liverpool caused complete and utter carnage with their 9-0 demolition job on Bournemouth this weekend.

The Reds bounced back from their winless opening three games in the best way imaginable, registering their biggest ever win in the Premier League in front of a delighted Anfield crowd.

Roberto Firmino was the standout performer as he helped himself to a dizzying three assists and two goals, while Luis Diaz also notched a brace and Chris Mepham unfortunately put through his own net.

Liverpool make history

Harvey Elliott, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Fábio Carvalho also penned their names on the scoresheet as part of an afternoon's work that will live long in the minds of Kopites around the world.

After all, it wasn't just the biggest Premier League victory in the club's history, but it also the joint-largest winning margin in England's top-flight since the 1992 rebranding, period.

As many of you might already know, Liverpool duly joined Manchester United 9-0 Ipswich Town, Southampton 0-9 Leicester City and Manchester United 9-0 Southampton in the history books.

And that's all well and good, but where does Jurgen Klopp's masterclass fit into the wider puzzle of the Premier League's biggest ever wins beyond the quartet that finds itself sharing top spot?

The biggest ever Premier League wins

Well, on the back of such an extraordinary result, we couldn't help wondering exactly that and duly trawled through the record books to find every single Premier League win with a seven, eight and nine-goal margin.

So let's celebrate Liverpool turning on the style by taking a goal-crazy walk down memory lane by reminiscing about the biggest Premier League victories that the division has ever seen...

Premier League maulings

Perhaps a little worryingly, many of the widest winning margins in Premier League history have actually been registered in the last few years.

In a world where the financial cavity between the top sides and the so-called 'lesser' teams is yawning more than ever, the greater the risk there is of teams like Liverpool and Manchester City dishing out an absolute massacre every now and again.

It is, after all, head-turning to see that three of the four nine-goal margins have transpired in the past three years and that three of the seven-goal swings also took place in the same timeframe.

It's also interesting to note that many of the pastings that been executed by City and Chelsea in the years after their mega-money takeovers by Sheikh Mansour and Roman Abramovich.

Then again, there are also curious anomalies like Southampton giving out an 8-0 win to dilute their 9-0 humiliations and even plucky out Middlesbrough dropping a 8-1 battering on City before they themselves were cracking the whip.

But no matter how a seven, eight or nine-goal margin of victory might come about in the Premier League, the sadist within us all can't help loving them from time to time.
