Arsenal are not currently pursuing a deal for Crystal Palace ace Wilfried Zaha, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Mikel Arteta is believed to be in the market for a wide player and the Gunners have tried to sign the Ivory Coast international in the past, although Jones has ruled out Arsenal making a move before the deadline.

What's the latest news involving Arsenal?

It's been an fine start to the season for the north Londoners, who kept up their 100 per cent record after coming from behind to beat Fulham on Saturday.

Goals from Martin Odegaard and a late strike from Gabriel cancelled out Aleksander Mitrovic's opener as Arteta's side made it four victories from four to return to the top of the Premier League.

That was testament to the Gunners boss, who made made just one attacking substitute in the shape of Eddie Nketiah, with Emile Smith Rowe and Fabio Vieira his only other options.

That's because Nicolas Pepe signed for Nice on loan last week, meaning Smith Rowe is Arsenal's only wide option beyond Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

Arsenal have been linked with a host of wingers this summer, with Zaha, valued at £30m, one player that Jones recently said would fit the bill at the Emirates, especially with less than 12 months left on his deal.

But with Palace unlikely to sell their talisman this close to the window slamming shut, the transfer insider said the Gunners aren't actively looking to sign him despite previous interest.

What did Jones say about Zaha?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "Where we are now with a couple of days left of the window, I don't think that he is actually [an option].

"They definitely had an eye on it, I have been unwilling to rule it out because I know they have rated him and had him on a long list.

"I know there is one person in particular at the club that has been pushing it but from what I'm hearing right now, Zaha is not a live option they're looking to pursue."

What other wingers do Arsenal want?

According to The Athletic, Wolves star Neto has emerged as Arsenal's 'top target' as Arteta hopes to provide depth and competition for Saka, Smith Rowe and Martinelli ahead of the return of European football next month.

The report claims that talks have been taking place for over a month, although the Portugal international only signed a new contract back in March, which means that he could cost the Emirates club a fair bit.

In fact, The Sun believe that Arsenal only want to pay around £35m for Neto, which is £15m short of Wolves' valuation.
