Williams driver Alex Albon says he believes that the car got into Q3 on true pace and that it shows they have a good package at certain tracks.

Overall, the Williams team have not got as many points as they would have liked this year on the board but, at times, there have been some really positive high moments, and Albon has had his fair share of them.

Indeed, he's quickly got to grips with the car since joining them for the start of this year and he's put in a number of good displays behind the wheel, with the latest coming at Spa on Saturday.

Qualifying 9th, Albon and the Williams looked really hooked up throughout the session yesterday afternoon, and he'll start P6 on the grid after penalties were applied to Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc and Esteban Ocon for engine component changes.

How well Albon can compete over a full race with some of those cars coming through the field and those around him remains to be seen, of course, but it is clear that he's looking pretty strong as things stand, and it's also fair to say that the car is there on merit.

Speaking to the press here at Spa after the session, he said:

“The car’s been feeling really good all weekend.

“We knew coming into this week that we tend to suit the low-downforce circuits. We knew this was a chance to get into Q2, but to get into Q3 in a different ball game.

“So I’m really proud of everyone. I felt like I maximised everything . We were really going great, we got the tyres in the right window, which has always been something very tricky with these cars, this year especially. We got the right slipstreams, everything was going in our way.”

“We were only a couple of tenths behind the Mercedes so it shows that in certain situations we can really maximise what we have and get into them positions.”
