Charles Leclerc: Red Bull 'on another level' at Belgian GP

Charles Leclerc has said that Red Bull were 'on another level' to Ferrari at the Belgian GP, as Max Verstappen secured a dominant victory

Charles Leclerc has said that Red Bull were 'on another level' to Ferrari at the Belgian GP, as Max Verstappen secured a dominant victory.

Verstappen started down in P13 for the race at Spa on Sunday afternoon but many still tipped him as favourite for victory, with him showing some massively impressive pace all weekend.

Indeed, by lap 18 he was leading the Grand Prix having surged through the field, at times a second a lap quicker than anyone else, and from there he ran away and hid in a class of one, as he and Sergio Perez secured a one-two for Red Bull.

The Bulls were absolutely untouchable in the end over the course of a 44-lap race on Sunday, then, and for Ferrari, their chief challengers this year, the worry is obvious with the deficit in both championships only getting bigger each weekend at the moment.

Indeed, Leclerc, who finished sixth, said that Red Bull were simply above everybody else on Sunday and that, right now, Ferrari do not have the answers on how to try and reel them back in:

"Red Bull were on another level.

"They found something this weekend that is a bit worrying for us. We don't understand, they are extremely quick in the straight and it doesn't look as though they have any downforce but then we get into the corners and they are as quick as us or quicker so it's a bit worrying.

"I don't think we have [an answer] yet."

Scuderia fans will be scratching their heads over just how Red Bull have become this dominant, given how the start of the season went, and the gap at Spa was significant.

Of course, at other tracks things are expected to be a little closer as the Belgian circuit was tipped to suit the Red Bull perfectly but, even so, the margin of victory that the team from Milton Keynes enjoyed on Sunday suggests the rest of this season could be a bit of a cakewalk.
