Ronaldo expressed his desire to leave earlier this summer and Jones reckons the Old Trafford club are now prepared to allow the Portugal international to find a new club this week.
What’s the latest news involving?
Despite an impressive first season back at United, where he scored 24 goals in all competitions, The Times claimed last month that Ronaldo wanted to leave following their failure to finish in the top four.
Ronaldo missed the whole of pre-season due to personal reasons, only returning for their final friendly.
The forward has gone on to feature in all four of their Premier League games, but he’s played just 26 minutes in the wins over Liverpool and Southampton, which suggests that United perform better without him.
As a result, Jones reckons the Red Devils have come to the point where they’re now willing to sell him before the window closes.
What did Jones say about Ronaldo?
He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think it all fits in with they’re expecting Ronaldo to find a new club.
“Obviously they were not open letting him leave for most of this transfer window, but they’ve got to a point where they can see the reasoning for him to go now because the team does function better without him.”
Who could sign Ronaldo?
Despite Thomas Tuchel not being overly keen on the idea of Ronaldo, Chelsea remain in the running, although Sporting CP would now appear to be the favourites.
The report claims that a return to Lisbon has always been on Ronaldo’s agenda, although his financial package, which currently sees him earn more than £500,000 per-week, could stop the deal from happening.
But Sporting are prepared to go to extreme lengths by offering him a stake in the club in order to convince him to come back.
