Butch looks like he's going to go back to his Pete Dunne character, something WWE fans have been wanting to see happen for months now.Fans were rather excited when Pete Dunne was brought up to the main roster in March 2022, just weeks before WrestleMania 38.However, Vince McMahon changed the former NXT UK Champion's name to Butch and paired him with Sheamus and Ridge Holland as the Brawling Brutes. The decision wasn't met well by fans, with many not only seeing Butch as a less than ideal name, but also regarding Pete Dunne as having all the potential to make it to the top of WWE with his old character. However, now that Vince has retired and Triple H is running creative, fans have speculated that Butch could be one of the WWE Superstars to benefit the most.

It looks like that's already beginning to happen too, as reports have come out from that taping of next week's episode of SmackDown, which took place on August 26.

Butch wrestled on the show, which is slated to air later on this week, but did so using his old Pete Dunne gear, as you can see below.

It's worth noting that while the Englishman may still be being called Butch, he's going back to his old presentation from NXT.

This is seen as a step in the right direction by fans, many of whom believe that it's just a matter of time b before Triple H goes the full way and renames Butch back into Pete Dunne.

As you can see from some of the fan interactions below, the general feeling is excitement following these images emerging online.

Some have speculated that if Triple H isn't able to turn him back into Pete Dunne for some reason, then the name 'Butch Dunne', could be a happy medium.

Butch is currently involved in the feud between Gunther and Sheamus over the Austrian's Intercontinental Championship.

Returning to the UK this weekend, Butch is set to be involved as Gunther and Sheamus go one-on-one in Cardiff at Clash at the Castle.

The show will be WWE's first big stadium event in the UK since SummerSlam 1992, which took place at Wembley Stadium 30 years ago.

You can watch WWE Clash at the Castle live in the UK on September 3 on BT Sport, and in the US on Peacock.
