Arsenal could be forced into action and make a late move to bring Leicester City star Youri Tielemans to the Emirates Stadium if another suitor lodges a bid, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs.

The Gunners have made a stunning start to the season, winning their opening four matches, but boss Mikel Arteta may look to bolster his squad ahead of Thursday's 11pm transfer deadline.

What's the latest news involving Tielemans?

It is understood that Arsenal are long-term admirers of Tielemans and have been holding internal discussions over his availability since January.

The central midfielder's £120,000-per-week Leicester contract is scheduled to expire next summer, resulting in major doubts over where his long-term future lies.

The Foxes could reportedly drop their price tag for Tielemans to as little as £17million ahead of the transfer window slamming shut as they do not want to risk him walking away from the King Power Stadium as a free agent at the end of the season.

That may play into Arsenal's hands, but they are not the only Premier League club mulling over whether to table a bid for the 52-cap Belgium international.

Jacobs has hinted that Liverpool could make a move for Tielemans, while Manchester United have also been linked with the Leicester man.

What has Ben Jacobs said about Tielemans?

Jacobs believes Arsenal will enter negotiations for Tielemans if another admirer strengthens their interest ahead of the transfer deadline.

The journalist feels the Gunners' pursuit of the Belgian is worth keeping an eye on despite the fact they are yet to make a formal bid.

Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT: "Arsenal might have to be reactive because if someone else makes a bid for Tielemans and it becomes an open race, that's when they might go 'Yikes, he might join another club. Now we better enter the race'.

"It's one to watch from Arsenal's perspective. But, as of Monday morning, when we're recording this, they haven't moved in a formal sense yet."

Would Tielemans choose to join Arsenal over other suitors?

Jacobs has previously told GIVEMESPORT that Arsenal have already agreed personal terms with Tielemans, so it appears he is keen to make the move to north London.

However, Liverpool could throw a spanner into the works by entering the race for the midfielder's signature as their second-place finish last season means they are able to offer Champions League football.

The Merseyside outfit's current injury crisis - which means that Jurgen Klopp is unable to call upon Naby Keita, Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - may give Tielemans an immediate route into the starting line-up, potentially making a switch to Anfield even more desirable.
