West Ham have no problem with getting involved in the race for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The 22-year-old is attracting interest in these final days of the window, and Jones says he is definitely someone who the east London club and David Moyes have been looking at.

What is the latest news involving Gallagher?

As per The Times, Crystal Palace have made a £27m bid to re-sign Gallagher before Thursday's transfer deadline.

The Englishman, who is also said to be a target for Newcastle United, spent last season out on loan at Selhurst Park, where he thoroughly impressed.

From midfield, Gallagher was able to score eight goals and provide five assists in all competitions.

Since then, he has returned to his boyhood club Chelsea and has featured in all four of their fixtures so far. However, it has not been the dream homecoming for him after he was sent off against Leicester City last time out and substituted around the hour mark the game prior.

What has Jones said about Gallagher and West Ham?

While Palace look desperate to sign Gallagher, Jones is not ruling out West Ham throwing their hat into the ring should he become available.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: "If at the very last minute Gallagher was available, I think West Ham would be very happy to do it. He's definitely been someone on their radar, so we'll have to watch out for that one in the final days."

Can West Ham sign Gallagher before Thursday's deadline?

For West Ham and Palace, it is going to be difficult to convince Chelsea to let Gallagher go.

The Blues currently have issues in midfield, something manager Thomas Tuchel has recently spoken about.

"The headache before the season was, ‘Do we have too many players there?’ It comes to the fifth game and we have only two left with experience in this position, and Kova [Mateo Kovacic] from the bench," the German said in his pre-match press conference on Monday.

"At the moment he’s not ready to play full matches at Premier League level. He has only had one week of training after his injury. It’s a strange situation and one we don’t like. It’s like this and we will have something to think about – or maybe not because it’s so obvious who we have left!"

Ultimately, when you consider the problems Tuchel has in the middle of the park right now, it would be a surprise if Gallagher were allowed to depart for the London Stadium or anywhere else.

With N'Golo Kante injured yet again, it looks like the England international is needed at Stamford Bridge.
