Dele Alli impressed on his Besiktas debut as his new side beat Sivasspor 3-1 on Monday night.

Alli has joined the Turkish giants on a season-long loan from Everton as he looks to rekindle his career after a tough few years.

He was given an incredible reception when he arrived in Turkey last week and was given the start on his debut against Sivasspor.

Will the 26-year-old be able to get his career back on track in the Super Lig?

Well, if his first appearance is anything to go by then this move could be a very positive step for Alli.

He played 78 minutes during the win and impressed throughout.

In fact, he showed off one piece of skill that is being shared across social media on Tuesday morning.

At his very best, Alli loved beating opponents with a cheeky nutmeg. Some of his managers and teammates would maybe say he loved nutmegs a little too much.

But he produced one on his Besiktas debut and he beat his opponent to escape a difficult situation and start an attack for his side. In fact, he went on to play a brilliant through ball before being hacked down by the player he had just been humiliated.

Brilliant.

In fact, Alli's overall highlights are actually really impressive. Considering he had only been in the country for a few days, the midfielder was really impressive. He showed the sort of commitment we hadn't seen from him for many years as he worked hard for his team. He also showed some beautiful touches on the ball and always looked to be positive on the ball.

While it's not exactly the biggest statement in the world, he looked a different player to the one we saw in the latter years at Tottenham and at Everton last season.

Anton Ferdinand warns Dele Alli

Before making his debut, Alli was actually warned by a certain Anton Ferdinand - a defender who previously played for Bursaspor and Antalyaspor in Turkey.

“Over there if you’re not doing well and you’re a marquee signing, which he is, they will let you know,” Ferdinand told TalkSPORT. “Whether you’re walking down the street, they will let you know, they’re passionate about their football and if you’re not pulling up trees when they expect you to then you will 100 per cent know that you’re not doing what they expect you to.

“The fans, they’re passionate, I remember one game I was coming back from injury and I was on the bench and I’m sitting down getting ready for the game to start and the masseur comes out with about five towels and hands them to the substitutes.

“I’m like ‘why’s that?’ and he said: ‘It’s to put over your head in case you get things thrown at your head’ and I was like ‘Pardon?’ and he said ‘Yeah this is a place known for it’.

“It is like that and people that have played in Turkey, people that have gone to the likes of Fenerbahce or Galatasaray there’s one way in and there’s one way out of those places they’re intimidating,” Ferdinand added. “The fans are intimidating, their passion for football, some of it I’ve never seen before, playing for Bursaspor and turning up for training and there’s 1000 fans waiting for you.

“They want to see you train, they want to see how you’re training, especially before the Besiktas game because Besiktas and Bursaspor was a massive, massive game and if you don’t do well they will let you know, that is a fact.”
