Nottingham Forest are 'really close' to sealing a deal which will see Wolverhampton Wanderers star Willy Boly head to the City Ground and discussions are being held today, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

The newly-promoted side have been busy throughout the summer window, having spent more than £140million on fresh faces, but boss Steve Cooper could secure further reinforcements ahead of Thursday's 11pm deadline.

What's the latest news involving Boly?

Romano has revealed that Forest are very close to acquiring Boly and hopeful of wrapping up a deal within the next 24 hours.

It is understood that the Reds have entered advanced talks, boosting their chances of getting their man ahead of the fast-approaching transfer deadline.

The development comes after Forest's initial attempt to lure Boly away from Molineux failed thanks to Wolves rejecting their £1million proposal.

Cooper was hoping to buy the central defender on the cheap as he has entered the final 12 months of his £50,000-per-week contract.

But Boly's Wolves career appears to be all-but-over as it emerged he failed to report for their Premier League clash with Newcastle United at the weekend despite being picked for the matchday squad as he attempts to push through a move to Forest.

What has Fabrizio Romano said about Boly?

Romano understands that Forest are on the verge of unveiling Boly as their latest acquisition.

The respected Italian journalist is aware that the 31-year-old's wage demands have already been met by last season's Championship play-off winners, but talks are ongoing over a transfer fee.

Romano told GIVEMESPORT: "They're waiting to complete the deal for Boly to Nottingham Forest. That is really close.

"They're discussing it today because the player already agreed personal terms with Nottingham Forest, so now they're discussing the fee."

Would Boly be a good signing for Nottingham Forest?

Forest are back in the Premier League for the first time in 23 years, but a lot of the squad are getting their first taste of football in the top flight.

With that being the case, Boly would be a welcome addition as he has made 89 appearances in the competition.

Statistics show that he is in the 99th percentile for tackles won among central defenders in Europe's top five leagues over the last year.

That emphasises that Boly, a 14-cap Ivory Coast international, would be a shrewd signing by Cooper as he looks to end the transfer window on a high.
