Wolverhampton Wanderers are finalising a deal to sign Sasa Kalajdzic from Stuttgart before Thursday night’s transfer deadline, with contracts now being signed, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Bruno Lage has overseen a busy few months of business at Molineux and time is running out if he is to strengthen his squad further with the cut-off now imminent.

What is the latest news on Kalajdzic?

It is understood that Wolves are set to complete the signing of the 25-year-old marksman after agreeing to a £15.4 million fee with Stuttgart.

Kalajdzic was left out of the German side’s squad in midweek for a friendly with Koln, while he focuses on completing a transfer to the West Midlands.

According to MailOnline, Manchester United, Chelsea and Everton were all targeting the 6ft 7in frontman earlier in the window.

But it appears Wolves will now win the race for his signature and look set to land a cut-price deal with Kalajdzic into the final 12 months of his contract.

He will become Lage’s fifth signing of the summer window and take their spending up to the £120 million mark following permanent deals for Matheus Nunes, Goncalo Guedes, Hee-chan Hwang and Nathan Collins.

What has Romano said on the deal?

Romano understands that Wolves are in the process of signing the final contracts with Stuttgart to complete the transfer of Kalajdzic.

The journalist emphasises that they have beaten a number of sides to his signature and could move on to another centre-back target after the deal.

Romano told GIVEMESPORT: “They're focusing on signing Kalajdzic. The deal is done. He had the medical Tuesday morning so now they're signing all the contracts with Stuttgart. It is a huge one for Wolves because I think they’ve signed a really underrated striker. He is a very, very good one for a very good price, so they have done very good business with Kalajdzic. He was on the list of many important clubs and they signed him at the right moment. Then they will focus on centre-back opportunities.”

Will this be a good signing for Wolves?

It is a deal that has the potential to be an absolute bargain for the club.

Kalajdzic has an excellent record in the Bundesliga, scoring 22 times in 51 appearances and providing a further 11 assists. Over the course of his career he has bagged 36 times.

He has also made 15 appearances for Austria and, aged 25, could still hold plenty of resale value further down the line.
