Footage has emerged of new technology Real Madrid have implemented at their training ground to improve their players’ free-kick technique.

Clubs all over the world have used free-kick mannequins for years, but Real Madrid’s new technology is straight out of the future.

Free-kick mannequins are, of course, used as a substitute for a human wall. While they’re useful, they also have their limitations.

Unlike a human wall, they can’t react when the ball is struck by the free-kick taker.

But Real Madrid have found a solution to this problem by introducing a next-gen mannequin wall.

The new set of mannequins can emulate a specific player’s height, rising up and down depending on the measurements, and can even emulate the effect of jumping.

Footage released by Real Madrid shows the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos taking free-kicks against the mannequin wall and a goalkeeper.

Watch it here:

As you can see from the video, the mannequin wall is operated by a control panel on a tablet.

It appears that you can even decide whether you want a specific mannequin to jump or not. Or even how high you want a particular mannequin to jump.

Real Madrid mannequin technology

So futuristic.

Let’s check out some of the reaction to the footage:

You have to imagine that these next-gen mannequin walls will become commonplace at every top European club in the near future.

Then, eventually, these futuristic mannequin walls will be used at professional clubs across the world.
