UFC veteran Chael Sonnen has praised KSI for beating two boxers in one night last weekend.

Last Saturday night at the O2 Arena, YouTube sensation KSI fought and beat both Swarmz and Luis Alcaraz Pineda in the same evening. He was initially supposed to take on Alex Wassabi but once that bout fell through, he knew he had to go above and beyond in the name of keeping fans interested - and boy oh boy did he manage to pull it off.

The YouTube/celebrity boxing scene often draws a few raised eyebrows from fans of the sport, with many critics suggesting it’s ultimately quite detrimental. Alas, they know how to draw eyes to the product, and KSI’s 3-0 pro record is something that can’t be taken away from him right now.

A lot of members of the combat sports community were watching and that includes Chael Sonnen, who was pretty impressed by what he saw.

“He takes on two guys in one night - he beat both guys! It doesn’t matter who it is, that’s a hard deal to do. I have fought two men in one night, very proud of it. Tournaments used to be a thing.”

“KSI promised people ahead of time I’m going to fight two men, what if he lost the first fight? What would happen? What if he got knocked out?”

“I saw KSI’s fight with [Logan] Paul. He could fight, he really could. He could stay in there, keep his eyes on him, you have to practice to be able to do that. He had his conditioning.”

What’s next?

A whole host of potential opponents are on the table for KSI in his next outing, with the winner of Austin McBroom vs AnEsonGib being at the top of the list alongside the often-controversial Andrew Tate.

Beyond that, a showdown with Jake Paul feels inevitable given the path both men are on, although ‘The Problem Child’ risks biting off more than he can chew later this year as he prepares to battle former UFC middleweight king Anderson Silva.

Either way, there’s still plenty of gas left in the tank for this genre.
