Leeds United are working on a deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Hwang Hee-chan, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

What's the latest news involving Hwang Hee-chan?

Leeds' interest in the South Korean international is no great secret, with manager Jesse Marsch openly admitting Hwang is an option on the club's radar.

As quoted by Leeds Live, he said recently: “I know Hee-chan very well. I like Hee-chan. He knows our football. I can tell you he's been on our list from the beginning.”

And the Whites' pursuit of the Wolves man could now escalate with one of their own attacking options set to leave the club.

Wales winger Dan James is set to join Fulham on loan, according to Fabrizio Romano.

At the same time, Patrick Bamford's injury problems are well known, while fellow forward Rodrigo suffered a dislocated shoulder in Leeds' last Premier League game, so the Yorkshire club's need for another strike option is pretty clear.

What has Dean Jones said about Hwang?

Speaking to GiveMeSport, transfer insider Jones confirmed that Leeds are working on a deal to sign Hwang from Wolves.

He said: "Jesse Marsch has admitted himself that Hwang is on their radar. He's the perfect profile for them, it would be a really good move for him and the club I think. So that's definitely one that's still being worked on."

Why is Jesse Marsch such a big fan of Hwang?

Marsch and Hwang have history together.

The South Korean worked under Marsch during his final season at Red Bull Salzburg, where they won the Austrian title together.

They then linked up again very briefly at RB Leipzig, before Hwang went out on loan to Wolves, who eventually signed him in a permanent deal.

Hwang's record under Marsch stands at a pretty incredible 16 goals and 24 assists in 43 games and although the majority of those were in the Austrian top flight, which is by no means the most competitive division, the 26-year-old also scored and/or assisted against Genk, Liverpool and Napoli in the Champions League.

Of course, his return for Wolves hasn't been quite so impressive with just five goals last season, four of which came before the end of October.

But Marsch will believe he knows how to get the best out of Hwang, while solving some depth issues within his current squad at Leeds.

Price, however, could be a potential sticking point: Ben Jacobs recently told GiveMeSport that Wolves want close to £25m for Hwang.
