Wolverhampton Wanderers still have ‘something up their sleeve’ on deadline day and could move for a new midfielder, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Bruno Lage has overseen an impressive summer of business at Molineux but is running out of time if he is to add to his squad before the 11pm cut-off.

What is the latest Wolves transfer news?

Sasa Kalajdzic became the latest star to make the move to the West Midlands side in the window this week, penning a five-year contract after a £15.5 million fee was agreed for the Stuttgart striker.

Meanwhile, a new centre-back seemingly remains a top priority at the club with Willy Boly completing a deadline-day move to Nottingham Forest.

According to MailOnline, Wolves are leading their local rivals Aston Villa in the race to sign Craig Dawson from West Ham, with the veteran defender eager to return to the area.

The report states that a £5.25 million bid has been submitted for Dawson, who is yet to feature for the Hammers this season after suffering an injury in pre-season.

It is understood that the club have entered the race to sign Ajax star Mohammed Kudus before the deadline passes, with Everton also interested.

This week has seen the attacking midfielder skip training in a bid to force an exit, although he apparently favours a move to the Toffees.

There could still be big names on their way out of Molineux before the deadline too, with Wolves agreeing to the sale of Leander Dendoncker to Villa.

What has Jones said on Wolves’ plans?

Jones understands that Lage’s side could still have a surprise deal up their sleeve before the 11pm deadline passes tonight.

The transfer insider has speculated that, as well as a centre-back, Wolves will look to bring in another central midfielder.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “I think there's still something else up their sleeves. I think Wolves will be in for a midfielder today, so it's one to look out for.”

What have Wolves been up to this summer?

There has been a steady stream of business at Molineux this summer with five new players signed.

But it has not been a cheap few months by any means, with over £120 million splashed on the likes of Kalajdzic, Nathan Collins, Goncalo Guedes and club-record signing Matheus Nunes.

However, Lage will hope his new recruits will soon have an impact on the pitch, with Wolves yet to win a game in the Premier League this season.
