Everton manager Frank Lampard is still pushing for a new forward signing at Goodison Park ahead of the 11pm deadline and will be ready to ‘scramble’ for one in the final hours, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

Lampard has overseen a busy few months of business on the blue half of Merseyside this summer but is running out of time to bolster his squad further.

What is the latest transfer news from Everton?

Last week saw Everton complete the signing of Brighton & Hove Albion striker Neal Maupay to add some much-needed options to their attack.

This summer saw Richarlison sold to Tottenham Hotspur, leaving Lampard short of one of his heroes of last season, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin remains sidelined with an injury.

Meanwhile, it is understood that Salomon Rondon has been told to find a new club by the Toffees ahead of the 11pm deadline, indicating that he will not be used by Lampard moving forward.

According to 90Min, Everton are leading the charge to sign Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz this summer, with the likes of Leeds, West Ham and Wolves also eyeing the 23-year-old.

However, the report indicates that it is the Toffees who are closing in on a £20 million deal for the Chile international.

Anthony Gordon does at least look set to remain at the club beyond the deadline, despite interest from Chelsea.

Another late bid was rejected from the west Londoners with Everton seemingly adamant that he will not be leaving.

What has Phillips said on Everton’s plans?

Phillips understands that Lampard still wants to add another striker to his side before the deadline passes tonight.

However, the journalist adds that it could turn into a desperate chase on Merseyside given how late in the day they have left it.

Phillips told GIVEMESPORT: “Frank Lampard still needs an attacker and he still wants to push for one. So they're going to have to get scrambling around in the last minutes this afternoon to try and find one.”

What have Everton been up to this summer?

Seven new faces have arrived at Goodison Park to bolster Lampard’s squad.

James Tarkowski arrived on a free transfer from relegated Burnley while Conor Coady and Ruben Vinagre both completed loan moves.

Central-midfielder Idrissa Gueye has returned to add some experience to the midfield where the Toffees have also added Amadou Onana.

Dwight McNeil and Maupay are the only two attacking signings made by the club so far so it is easy to see why Lampard wants to bring in more firepower.
