Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal side have an astonishing start to the Premier League season.

The Gunners made it five wins from five to start the Premier League campaign as they beat Aston Villa on Wednesday evening.

Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli were on the scoresheet as the north London giants won 2-1.

Arteta is getting a lot of praise right now - and rightly so.

He's got Arsenal playing some fantastic football and they are top of the Premier League table with a perfect record.

But Arteta hasn't had it all easy at Arsenal.

In February 2021, the Gunners were in dire straits under Arteta.

Arsenal were languishing in the bottom half of the table and there were suggestions that he could lose his job.

But, despite his troubles in the past, Pep Guardiola has always been a massive fan of his former colleague.

And, after City beat Arsenal 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium in that month, Guardiola chose to rave about Arteta's brilliance in his post-match interview.

Those comments have now gone viral again after Arsenal's incredible start to the season. View them below...

Guardiola said: "Mikel [Arteta] knows everything. He's so good. It's not because he's my friend. I know how he lives, I know what he plans, I know how he works. He's so clever.

"I learn a lot from watching his teams and today I learned something that I can use in the future. He knows everything about football."

It's fair to say that Guardiola will not be surprised to see Arteta and Arsenal start the season off strongly.
