Darren Till has revealed that he wants to make sure that he is completely '100 per cent' fit before he returns to the UFC.

Middleweight Till, 29, hopes his decision to take it easy, having spent many years running his body virtually into the ground, will finally get his career back on track.

The Liverpool MMA fighter hasn't set foot inside the Octagon since his UFC Fight Night 191 loss to Derek Brunson last September.

That defeat was preceded by a unanimous decision loss to Robert Whittaker in the main event of UFC Fight Island 3, which saw him miss out on the opportunity to fight Israel Adesanya.

But he has been quietly working his way back to full fitness as he eyes a UFC return as soon as physically possible.

Speaking exclusively to GiveMeSport, the Liverpudlian said: "I'm just taking care of my health and getting back to 100 per cent full fitness because the past two years of my career I've drove my body into the ground.

"I've had countless injuries, I've snapped my knee, I've broken my collarbone and stuff.

"I've persevered up until a certain point where I've had to step back and just be like I can't do this no more.

"So it's not really the mental side it's more of the physical side for me.

"It's like that saying 'you're too tough for your own good'.

"I've stepped back and sort of worked on other things rather than just going to the gym and breaking my body everyday.

"That's what it's ultimately been for me and obviously I'm training in Sweden so if there's days I don't feel right I don't really go to the gym.

"If I wake up and I feel like my body is a little bit overworked I have that morning off whereas in the past I wouldn't do that and it wasn't smart.

"But when you're young you don't know these things obviously."

Despite four losses in his last five fights, Till has refused to give up on his dream of becoming Britain's third UFC champion.

However that doesn't mean he wouldn't entertain the idea of fighting the likes of KSI and Jake Paul if such an opportunity arises.

"Of course I would, you get a lot of money," Till added.

"I just want to become a champion in my respective sport first which is what I set out to do from the start.

"I've had money, I've got money, I've lost money.

"Money is money, isn't it? I've never really been a guy who holds a lot of value in money. I spend it faster than I get it.

"So I don't know, I just want to be a champion in the UFC.

"I'm still young. I know I can achieve it. I know I'm always one or two fights away from it.

"But as I say Jake Paul and KSI are making so much noise. They're massive fights. It's a good thing it's not a bad thing it's just a lot of people have a lot of different opinions about it.

"It is what it is isn't it? He's f***ing fighting isn't he? He's got balls to get in there.

"It's hard enough getting in there so you have got to give credit where it's due."
