Paris Saint-Germain cruised to victory once again in Ligue 1 on Saturday evening.

Christophe Galtier's side travelled to Nantes ahead of their Champions League opener against Juventus and ran out 3-0 winners.

Neymar, arguably the most in-form player in Europe so far in 2022/23, was rested and PSG still claimed the win with ease.

The Brazilian's two partners-in-crime Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi wreaked havoc once again, the former scoring twice and the latter assisting both of the goals.

It was yet another flawless display from Messi in Ligue 1, who looks back to his very best after a shaky debut season in Paris.

The Argentine registered 119 touches of the ball, had nine successful dribbles (the most completed by any player during a match in Europe's top five leagues this season) and created four chances during his latest masterclass.

Messi's latest two assists also saw him set yet another incredible record in the creative department.

Per stats-based website SofaScore, the 35-year-old is the first player to register 100 assists since the start of the 2015/16 season.

Well played, Leo.

As well as being among the greatest goalscorers in history, Messi is in the mix to be labelled the finest playmaker the sport has ever seen.

And the former Barcelona man's highlights against Nantes only add fuel to that fire.

Messi was quite simply unplayable at the Beaujoire Stadium, which should worry rival nations ahead of the 2022 World Cup this winter, with Argentina already one of the big favourites to lift the trophy.

His finishing isn't quite as lethal as it used to be, but the man is a still magician and looks as if he has many years at the very highest level left in him.

Messi now has three goals and six assists to his name from PSG's opening six matches in Ligue 1 this season, which is mighty impressive.

Only club colleague Neymar (7G, 6A) and Manchester City's Erling Haaland (10G, 1A) have contributed to more goals in one of Europe's top five leagues thus far in 2022/23.

Messi will now be desperate to make a similar impact in the Champions League against Juventus next Wednesday, which promises to be an absolute corker of a match.
